A Toast to the Host

Unfortunately, AFASW is not able to host our Annual AFASW Memorial Ceremony at the Air Force Memorial, due to construction.

Normally, our AFASW Memorial Ceremony coincides with the Air Force Academy Graduation, scheduled for May 29, 2025. As we honor those Graduates who have Departed, we welcome new Graduates to the Long Blue Line.

Instead, we offer this rememberance. We have lost 160 Graduates from May 2024 through May 2025.

Full List of Graduates Here

ALMA MATER

Here's a toast to the host

Of those who love the vastness of the sky,
To a friend we send a message

of his brother men who fly.
We drink to those who gave their all of old,
Then, down we roar to score

the rainbow's pot of gold.
A toast to the host of men we boast

the U.S. Air Force!

 AIR FORCE HYMN

Lord guard and guide the ones who fly

Through the great spaces of the sky;

Be with them traversing the air

In darkening storms or sunshine fair.

Thou who dost keep with tender might

The balanced birds in all their flight,

Thou of the tempered winds, be near,

That, having thee, they know no fear.

Control their minds with instinct fit

What time, adventuring, they quit

The firm security of land;

Grant steadfast eye and skillful hand.

Aloft in solitudes of space,

Uphold them with Thy saving grace.

O God, protect the ones who fly

Thru lonely ways beneath the sky.

No AFASW Annual Memorial Event for 2023

For a decade, AFASW has hosted an Annual Memorial Ceremony at the Air Force Memorial, next to the Pentagon around Memorial Day or Graduation Day to honor those from the Long Blue Line whom we have lost over the previous year, as well as members of the graduating class. Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Association of Graduates has assisted AFASW in preparing a virtual ceremony as well. Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules and a lack of sufficient volunteer availability, AFASW is unable to host this annual event. We apologize and look forward to recruiting more volunteers who can help AFASW continue this tradition in 2024. If you wish for AFASW to continue its mission of fostering the professional success of fellow Graduates and hosting community-building events like the Annual Memorial Ceremony, please contact the Board to volunteer.
